Frequently asked questions
How do you count matters?
We count engaged matters — matters where the client has signed an engagement agreement. Leads, intakes that don't convert, and any pre-engagement activity are unlimited and do not count against your tier limit. You only pay for matters that turn into clients.
What happens if I exceed my engaged-matter limit?
Matter packs apply automatically within your current billing month — $50 for 10 engaged matters, $99 for 25, $169 for 50. No service interruption. We notify you at 50%, 80%, and 100% of your tier's engaged-matter limit so there are no surprises. Leads remain unlimited at every tier.
Do unused matters roll over?
No. Matters reset each billing cycle. Pack purchases apply within the month they're purchased.
Do you charge per user?
Practice tier and above include unlimited firm users — no per-seat charges. Solo tier includes 2 users; additional users are $39/user/month. Most firms on Practice tier add attorneys, paralegals, and staff without their bill changing.
What practice areas are included?
All 9 standard practice areas are included on every tier: Estate Planning, Personal Injury, Family Law, Criminal Defense, Bankruptcy, Immigration, Probate, Guardianship, and Business Formation. Custom practice areas beyond the 9 standard are available on Multi-Office and Enterprise tiers.
Can I switch tiers?
Yes, anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle.
What if it doesn't work for our firm?
Every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If MatterReady isn't the right fit in your first 30 days, contact us for a full refund.
Can I import data from my current intake tool?
Yes. Concierge implementation includes data migration assistance from common sources, including generic forms, spreadsheets, and other intake tools.
How does MatterReady fit alongside Clio?
MatterReady is the qualification layer that feeds Clio clean, structured, conflict-checked data. Qualified matters sync to Clio Manage with contacts, custom fields, documents, and notes already in place. Your system of record stays in Clio — MatterReady handles what comes before.
Does MatterReady require Clio?
No. MatterReady runs standalone as a complete intake and qualification system. The Clio integration is one of several — MatterReady also integrates with NetDocuments, Microsoft 365 (Outlook + OneDrive), Google Calendar, Google Local Services Ads, and others. Firms without a practice management system use MatterReady as their full intake-to-handoff pipeline. See all integrations.
What if I need a custom integration?
Multi-Office and Enterprise tiers include custom integration work. Mid-tier customers can add integration support through Concierge implementation. Reach out at hello@matterready.io.
Is my data backed up?
Yes. MatterReady creates encrypted snapshots of your data daily. Firm administrators can restore from any available snapshot directly from admin settings. You can also export all your data at any time. See our Security & Trust page for details.
